Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I have been pretty terrible at keeping up with my blog here, but I hope that you have all signed up for my news letter via the newsletter/contact link and that you have been getting my updates that way! If you haven't, make it a new years resolution ;) Lots of things will be changing after the new year, and I don't want you to miss out on it!
As for December.... my charity this month is Quilts for Kids! Thank you for those who have made purchases this month that will help to make a donation to this organization the focuses on providing some comfort to sick children who are stuck in the hospital away from home for long periods of time.
One quick announcement that I am super excited about is that I have decided to reopen my jewelry line! But will be adding new mediums and designs from what I used to do! My new etsy shop is called Salt Sand and Sea (Click that there and you'll be taken to my shop!) My main focus will be on capturing beach memories that you can wear! So I will be making necklaces and bracelets out of sand and shells from different beaches. I will also be offering to use your very own sand that you may have collected on your vacation to make the necklace even more sentimental! I also have ambitions of added stamped jewelry with the beach names or whatever your hearts desire is! Bear with me as this is a new shop and I don't have a ton of things to choose from just yet! I'll be adding a link the jewelry line to my website in the near future after all the hustle and bustle of Christmas!
For those of you who love my fabric goodies... don't be alarmed! I'll still be listing all that cuteness and taking orders for baby quilts and anything else that you see here! I just needed to be able to keep my 2 creations separated so they don't look cluttered (like my creative mind, haha) So you can still shop all my fabric items by clicking on links on this website or by clicking shopping at the home page! or click here --> Tiger Lily Lane
I hope you all have a great Christmas and safe and fun New Year!
Check back for all the changes and new items at the start of the year!
I wanted to quickly announce the charity that your orders will help donate to this month! I found this small charity via instagram a while back and I just recently had the idea to feature them because one of their posts caught my eye and tugged at my heart strings. The charity this month is not your typical one that you would have seen featured from me, but I like knowing that the money that I donate isn't paying some CEO an extravagant amount of money instead of using it for the cause. If you know me, you know how much I love my pups, and all dogs for that matter! So, that being said... this months donation will be going to Spitfire K-9 Rescue. Here's a little bio on them:
"Spitfire K-9 Rescue is a German Shepherd dog rescue, sanctuary, and rehabilitative facility based in Floral City, Florida. Spitfire K-9 Rescue was started in 2013 by Caddy Labarge and her family, after they decided that they could best provide for the foster dogs by starting a rescue that aims for high quality CARE rather than high volume. We intend to stay as small as we need to be to make sure that every one of our dogs are treated with the same care and respect that we show our own family. We provide a lifetime of care and shelter for dogs that have been abused, neglected, or have special needs. Rather than placing an emphasis on adoption, Spitfire K-9 Rescue provides a home-like setting where the dogs can enjoy the remainder of their lives in a comfortable and loving atmosphere. Spitfire K-9 Treasures is made up of stained-glass art created by Caddy to raise funds for the rescue. We specialize in stained glass memorials for your loved ones, whether for a child, furbaby, family member, or friend. All of the proceeds go to our rescue, to be used for food, veterinary costs, and care for the dogs."
Here is their website in case you feel the urge to donate on your own, or in case you want to inquire about her beautiful stained glass pieces that she creates (they're gorgeous).

You may have noticed my recent name change. This did not come without a ton of thought and a lot of planning. I've recently gotten more into researching what makes a great handmade business. It's hard to keep a small business up and running when you move around as frequently as I do. You lose your word of mouth advertising that you once had, you must start a new client base, and it can be incredibly discouraging. Figuring out how to navigate that hasn't been easy. After reading a bunch of books and articles, I decided that I was ready to try to grow my business and that meant it was time for an official name change and all that comes with it.
Naming your business is never easy. You think you finally found the name you want, only to find out someone else is already using it. I made a list, which seemed to grow by the day, and then attempted narrowing it down. I kept circling around anything involving tiger lily, so I thought this meant it really meant something to me. Lilies happen to be my favorite flower and of those, tiger lilies are my favorite lily. The lily itself means more to me than to most people probably. They have always been the flower my husband sends me when he knows I need a pick me up, or when he just wants me to feel extra special. He never knew that lilies were my favorite, which made it even more special. When I was growing up my mom always had tiger lilies growing in our yard that I seemed to always be fascinated with. In fact, the picture that is in the background of my website is a picture I took when I was younger of one of her tiger lilies.
If these things weren't enough to convince me that this name was meant to be, I did a little research on what a tiger lily symbolize and this solidified my name change.
The tiger lily symbolizes female courage. It is a good flower for a career woman to carry in her bouquet down the aisle, and its bold orange symbolizes personal wealth and career success.
The fact that the tiger lily is bright orange also speaks of joy, productivity and pride. The brown freckles on the flower's petals allude to the concept of always being in touch with one's creativity.
Tiger lilies are very easy to grow, and once you cut off one blossom another one quickly replaces it.
I love the part about being in touch with one's creativity. It fits me perfectly since I am always trying to create new things. The resilience of the flower also suites me well. If you know me personally you'll totally understand why. I'm constantly having to adapt to change, whether it's expected or unexpected. I've become resilient by nature over the past several years, constantly being stretched and pulled in all different directions but always returning to my normal state....
Over the next month or so I will hopefully be making several new announcements about new opportunities and changes, so please check back often and sign up for my newsletter!
